Day 3: Read 2 Samuel 24:24

[24] But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the Lord my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.

2 Samuel 24:24 NLT

Key Point: David says he wouldn’t offer sacrifices to God that cost him nothing. We can see that the gifts the magi offered were treasures fit for a king. Their worship cost them a large amount of time and expense.
